The Constitutional Court is the supreme body of the constitutional justice which provides supremacy of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and immediate legal action.
The Constitutional Court consists of nine members, five of whom appointed by the National Assembly and four by the President. The Constitutional Court is the first year of its establishment (1996) joined the Council of Europe "Democracy through Law" European Commission (Venice Commission). A year later, in October 1997, established a "constitutional courts" Conference of the International Organization of the young democratic states, whose activities are coordinated by the Constitutional Court.
In 2000, when the country was not yet a member of the Council of Europe, the Constitutional Court has chosen a "full-fledged member of the international konferan" organization of the constitutional courts of European countries.
