Armenia's National Gallery was founded in 1921 by decision of the Government of Soviet Armenia, as Armenia's state museum of art. Funds currently stored in the Gallery's collection of about 25 000 paintings, which represent the bulk of European painting.
The gallery exhibited by such famous artists as Tintoretton, Auguste Rodin, Peter Paul Rubens, Gustav Kurban, Marc Chagall, the artist John Tyler, Minas Avetisyan, M. Saryan, Harutyun Calentz, Edward Isabekyan works. It is one of the largest galleries in the CIS area, but the painting collection, the largest in the world. It is the member of the World Association of Museum of Fine Arts.
National Gallery of Armenia cooperates with the Faculty of History.
