U.S. Peace Corps in Armenia
"The Peace Corps" was founded in 1961 by John F. Kennedy. Kennedy's order to strengthen world peace and friendship. Since then, more than 215 000 Peace Corps volunteers serve in more than 139 states. The Corps started its activities in 1992 at the invitation of the Government of Armenia. Currently 70 volunteers serving in the regions in which their activities are carried on two projects, "English as a Foreign Language" and "Community and Youth Development." The volunteers work in the 27 months to learn Armenian, get to know the culture.
The goals of the Peace Corps host country professional assistance as well as deepening the bilateral cooperation.
