Writers' Union of Armenia was established simultaneously with the Soviet Union, in August 1934. The founding congress Drastamat Simonyan was elected Chairman of the Board. WUA publishing house was founded in 2002, started publishing young writers "Enter" (2003-2007) series.
Among the literary magazines ("Literary Newspaper", "Nork", "Literary Armenia" ("lettered" was renamed in 2012), "New Century") increased by "Foreign Literature", "Books Magazine" (2004, with the Institute after M. Abeghyan literature NAS), "Literary Herald" magazines, "Satirikon" satirical (and later became a youth newspaper, "Gretert"), "Tsolker" (2005) and children "Aureole" (up to 2009) children's literature. Began operating cultural. Youth am contemporary art and literature website.
It cooperates with
Faculty of Armenian Philology. and the
Faculty of Journalism.
