Chair of Radio and Television Journalism was founded on May 13, 1999. Beginnings with the date of foundation of the chair scientific and pedagogical activities were launched. The courses, delivered at the chair, include all the fundamental areas and directions of radio and television and network journalism. The chair has got at its disposal specialized TV radio studios, computer hall, which are equipped with modern techniques and equipment.

The Chair has published two dozens of professional methodological guides, manual and articles, translated professional books into Armenian. The lecturers actively participate in the faculty, university and international conferences, summer schools and workshops and their reports and articles are regularly published in national and internationally recognized journals and collections.

One doctoral and about ten PhD theses have been defended at the chair.

Today recognized experts and scientists in the area of TV and radio journalism are involved in the activities, developed at the chair, including one doctor and nine candidates of sciences.

Beginning with the date of establishment of the chair academic and pedagogical activities are underway at the chair. The courses include basic fields of press history and theory (history of the Armenian press different periods, introduction to Journalism, newspaper genres, media and legislation, journalistic ethics, etc.). The development trends of modern media / both Armenian and foreign/, press and mass media other means interactions’ new manifestations are always in focus.

In recent years, substantial work is carried out at the chair to monitor different scientific branches of journalism relationship on the same plane. This approach has enabled the research using the scientific achievements of other professions. In particular primary is considered the development of topics in the area of sciences which share in common with journalism - law, psychology, political science, history.

More than three dozen monographs, manuals, professional books have been translated and methodological guidelines have been published by the staff of the chair. Their articles are regularly published not only in republican, but also internationally recognized scientific journals. Chair lecturers present their researches via reports on the level of university, national and international conferences.
In the years of its existence, one doctoral and about 15 PhD theses have been defended at the chair.
