On March 2, the Central House of Scientists of the Academy of Sciences of the Russian Federation hosted the solemn presentation of the new elements of Mendeleyev’s periodicity table - 115 Moscovium (Mc), 117 Tennessine (Ts) and 118 Oganesson (Og).

The element of the periodic table Oganesson (Og) has already been named in honor of the honorary doctor of YSU, the academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of the RA, the scientific supervisor of the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions after G.N. Flerov at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor Yuri Hovhannisyan.

Mr. Hovhannisyan is one of the founders of the new field of science - heavy-ion physics. Under his supervision, new elements of the periodic table with periodic numbers 112-118 were discovered at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna. Mr. Hovhannisyan is the author of 250 scientific works, 3 monographs and 10 theories.

With the direct participation of the Armenian scientist at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research a whole generation of heavy ion accelerators with record levels was created.

Within the framework of the event a scientific congress was held on March 2-3, during which Academician Yuri Hovhannisyan made a report on the investigation of the synthesis of new elements, which is being held at the Laboratory of Nuclear Reactions, and the report of his partner, Professor Vitold Nazarevich at the Michigan State University of the United States was devoted to the 118th element of the Periodic Table of Mendeleev “Oganesson”.
