YSU ALUMNI FULL DATABASE AVAILABLE SOON
From now on 8 higher education institutions of Armenia will have full databases of their alumni at their disposal.

Today, YSU hosted the participants of the TEMPUS funded project HEN GEAR. In the framework of the project databases of the alumni will be made, available to employers, not only in Armenia but also abroad.

YSU International Cooperation Office, Alumni and Career Centre, Information Systems Service and Development Department, Educational-Methodological Department, 7 faculties and other subdivisions participate in the implementation of the project.

Experts of the Italian AlmaLaurea Inter-University Consortium presented the details of the project. The consortium has 64 members. The program was introduced there 2 years ago, but the system has been operating in Italy since 1994.

This project aims to provide Armenian universities with the opportunity to participate in the creation of the international platform. We will support you in the process of the introduction and localization of the system, - says the International Relations Officer of the project Mateos Gardi.

Databases are formed on the basis of the completed questionnaires by the alumni. The Italian questionnaires have been already localized in Armenia, and the system can operate beginning with October of current year. The database will be available to the enterprises or individuals who have an agreement with the coordinators of this field in higher educational institutions.

Mr. Gardi says the universities have to decide whether this procedure is mandatory or optional, but every year at least 90 percent of the alumni should be included in the database. The project will be implemented by 2015, but the universities can also use these databases in future, regularly updating it.

The Armenian experts have already visited Alma Laurea University: There we saw alumni databases of several state universities. Database mainly included the profession, age and gender, qualifications and language proficiency of the alumni, - says Head of YSU Information Systems Service and Development Department Arshaluys Hovhannisyan.

Partner sides from Armenia are Armenian State Economic University, Armenian State Engineering University, Armenian State University of Engineering and Construction, Armenian National Agrarian University, Gavar State University, Gyumri State Pedagogical University and Yerevan State Academy of Fine Arts.

In the last 2 years, the University has paid great attention to the employment of the alumni. A special commission, formed at YSU Academic Council, is to promote labor market-university cooperation, so we are very encouraged by the introduction of the system, - said YSU Vice-rector Ruben Markosyan.
