THE FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE OF YSU RECTOR ARAM SIMONYAN
The first hundred days of officiation of YSU Rector Professor Aram Simonyan was completed.

On September 11 a press conference was organized at YSU hall of Academic Council for embracing the done work, satisfying the requirements of community and further expectations from collaboration.

One of the most important functions of higher educational institutions in the 21st century is the relations with society. As other higher educational institutions, YSU also must be spread in front of society. It is not only responsibility but it is a right, - mentioned Aram Simonyan. 

The changes done during the first hundred days were, first of all personnel and constructive. Presenting mainly and in details the present structure and new management Mr. Simonyan assured that they needed necessity long ago. The leader part of workers were mainly old-aged, nearly the half were more than 60. There was a necessity of refreshing the strength, move forward energetic and young persons, - explained the Rector. 

As for the educational part, it was impossible to do many things during the summer holidays. The most important acquisition and change was that the schedule of credit investment system was affirmed, the deadlines were marked, during which the University must make a transition to the new system, new subdivisions became clear which must make secure this process. 

On September 13 the Rector of YSU visited Bologna, to participate in the events organized on the occasion of 18th anniversary of Bologna agreement of Magna Charta Scientific Conference and to resign the contract.

STATEMENT OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY  ADDRESSED TO INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS REGARDING THE SITUATION CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE BLOCKADE IMPOSED ON THE LACHIN CORRIDOR
Since the morning of December 12th, a group of Azerbaijani civilians disguised as environmentalists have imposed a blockade on the Goris-Stepanakert highway (the Lachin Corridor) which is currently the only route linking Nagorno-Karabakh to the outside world. On top of that, during bitterly cold winter Azerbaijan had shut off natural gas supplies leaving the civilians in the territory without heating for 75 hours.
YSU RECTOR MET THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EURASIAN ECONOMIC COMMISSION COUNCIL DELEGATION HEADED BY M. V. MYASNIKOVICH
YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, along with Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA Karen Trchunyan, hosted the delegation headed by Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. For his activity and significant contribution to increasing inter-university bonds, the rector handed a certificate of gratitude to Myasnikovich.
