ARMENIAN STUDENTS IN THE WORLD OF "LITTLE LIGHTS"
A meeting with the RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan and Director of "Luys" Foundation Jacqueline Karaaslanyan was held in YSU Academic Council Hall today.

On the 3rd of November, 2008 Tigran Sargsyan had developed the concept according to which smart children of our republic and Diaspora must be supported to enter the leading HEI worldwide to train skillful specialists for our welfare.

During the meeting with our studentship Mr. Sargsyan said that the establishment of the foundation Luys was initiated by the RA President Serzh Sargsyan and Mr. Sargsyan is the Chairman of Board of Trustees.

This is a private initiative and the budget will be formed via donations. The goal is to support the realization of educational and cultural projects, and if specifically, to provide students with corresponding scholarships to study in the leading HEI abroad. About 400 million drams were allocated by the RA State Budget for the implementation of this project, - said Mr. Prime Minister.

Modern economy is a knowledge-based one and for Armenia it is very important to be presented on a high level in the row of outstanding scientists and innovators, which will provide Armenia to participate equally in the universal progress together with developed countries- Mr. Sargsyan is sure.

He ensured us that this concept has already passed several test stages, discussed in different forums, with HEI lecturers, deputies and been approved. According to him the main objective of this project is to form leaders and to decrease the brain drain.

Director of Luys Foundation Jacqueline Karaaslanyan mentioned that the list of best HEI worldwide has been selected for our children. It is too difficult to enter these HEI and generally the participants of the international Olympiads enter there. As for the selection of applications, all the entrants are provided with the opportunity to take the entrance exams and in case of success with state scholarship. No limitation for the choosing of specializations is expected, - she said.

Jacqueline Karaaslanyan is sure that this foundation has got a dual mission: to unite progressive and creative generation of students increasing the amount of Armenian students, studying worldwide, as well as to make a substructure, which will sum up the knowledge, experience and ties of the Luys students.

And the online journal of this foundation unites not only people, but also the educational networks worldwide.
