THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY IN BULGARIA
THE OPPORTUNITY TO STUDY IN BULGARIA
New opportunities are now available for the students who study Bulgarian language in YSU.

Today, the guest of the Rector of Yerevan State University was the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Bulgaria Kircho Atanasov. The Deputy Minister of Bulgaria, who has arrived in Armenia to discuss the programs in the area of education, evaluation of the work and the implementation of new promising projects, also visited several centers of education.

Over the centuries our peoples have lived brotherly, that is why I appreciate your visit to Yerevan State University very much. We have a very good tradition of cooperation with our Bulgarian colleagues. We currently cooperate with the universities in Sofia, Plovdiv, - said YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, welcoming guests.

Our Rector introduced Alma Mater of Armenia, the educational system, educational reforms in the framework of the Bologna process, scientific researches, laboratories, Armenological and natural science centers. Rector also focused on the 90th anniversary of the Yerevan State University foundation, noting that last year, the delegation of Sophia University visited Yerevan State University on the occasion of 120th anniversary of its foundation.

Last year the Deputy Minister of Culture of Bulgaria visited YSU, and we promised to build a monument in the memory of the great Bulgarian poet Peyo Yavorov in the courtyard of our university. Deputy Minister himself ordered to build this monument, and when the monument is ready, we will set it in the courtyard of the university, adjacent to the central building, - said YSU Rector. By the way, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Bulgaria had visited Yerevan school N 131 named after Peyo Yavorov before his visit to YSU.

Bulgarian language is taught profoundly at the Faculty of Russian philology. Dean of the faculty Pavel Balayan, presenting the faculty, said: If previously the Bulgarian language was for our students only an additional language, beginning with September of the following academic year it will become the second foreign language. More precisely - from next year 15 students from each course will study the Bulgarian as well as they are now studying Russian.

As a specialist in this area, Mr. Balayan thinks that the Bulgarian language should be taught in our institution by native speakers. Citing the example of the summer courses, conducted for students and lecturers of Greek and Polish languages in the corresponding countries, the dean offered to organize similar courses in Bulgaria.

In response the Deputy Minister Kircho Atanasov said that the new contract, signed by the Minister of Education and Science of the RA, provides with training opportunities in their country. For students who do not know Bulgarian language, such trainings are conducted for the first time, - said Mr. Atanasov.
