NEW OPPORTUNITIES IN SPHERE OF ARMENIAN STUDIES: LEADERS OF  CENTRE FOR ARMENIAN STUDIES OF HEBREW UNIVERSITY OF JERUSALEM VISIT YSU
Today the founder of the Centre of Armenian Studies of Hebrew University of Jerusalem Michael Stone and the current director Reuven Amitai were hosted at YSU.

Eminent Armeniologist Michael Stone is a Honorary Professor of Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He founded the Institute of Armenian Studies in 1967 and it works up today. Michael Stone also founded and le the “International Association of Armenian Studies”.

The guests were welcomed by the acting Rector of YSU Gegham Gevorgyan. The head of the Department of International Cooperation of YSU Alexander Markarov, the representatives of Hebrew University of Jerusalem told about their activities.

The parties also discussed the ways to make the existing cooperation more effective. Acting Rector Gegham Gevorgyan stated that he is ready to assist in the implementation of bilateral ideas. He also invited Mr. Michael Stone and Mr. Rueven Amitai to participate in the events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of YSU foundation to be held in September.

The representatives of Hebrew University of Jerusalem accompanied by the acting Rector visited the Institute of Armenian Studies where they met the director of the IAS Aram Simonyan and the head of the division of Genocide Studies Suren Manukyan.

During the meeting the parties also discussed the main problems of Armenian Studies and the possibilities of collaboration, particularly related to students’ exchange, mutual visits of lecturers during which they will deliver lectures on the Armenian Genocide, Holocaust, regional politics and Diaspora studies.

YSU expressed willingness to host the students of HUJ to learn Armenian for during one term.

The guests also informed that this year the Rector of HUJ for the first time took part in the events commemorating the Armenian Genocide.

On February 20, at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, YSU Cultural Center and Gevorkian Theological Seminary organized an event dedicated to St. Vardanants Day.
THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING DID NOT TAKE PLACE. MORE THAN HALF OF THE BOARD MEMBERS WERE NOT PRESENT
The Board of Trustees meeting did not take place, because voting was not secured.
