BANBER IS 40 YEARS OLD
Today the 40th anniversary of periodical "Banber of Yerevan University" was celebrated.

It is the first periodical ever published by YSU. Here one can find various articles regarding innovations in the field of humanities. Annually 3 volumes are available.

This periodical is one of the most important achievements in the area of Armenian studies. Banber presents this sphere, makes the reader aware of current issues and this is the future�s trend, - said in his congratulatory speech YSU Rector Aram Simonyan. 

According to Rector this scientific periodical is one of the best today, as has spread scientific knowledge for many years. And the further activities of Banber will raise the scientific qualification of our future scientists. 

All the scientists, who had come on this occasion, first of all mentioned the name of YSU Rector M. Nersisyan: the foundation of Banber was his initiative in 1966. Hrach Mirzoyan, editor in chief of the periodical, states that the publication had faced lots of obstacles. 

But the periodical was finally published. Every outstanding Armenian scientist has his benefaction in this mission together with their many colleagues from Diaspora. The subscribers were 1250 at first, but years passed and they became 3000 with 350 Diaspora scientists, - he said. 

USSR collapse caused reduces of the publication: different journals had the analogues fate. The print run is 300, only a few items are available for Diaspora now. Today Banber has its special auditorium. Each volume offers You articles, discussions, proclaiming, scientific life, numerous works are presented in book summary. The latest volume is dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the periodicals foundation. The electronic version of the periodical is expected. 

The editor in chief and two other employees of the periodical were awarded University golden medal for the benefaction of long years in the development of the journal and one personality - silver. Three employees were given Diplomas.
