Dean of YSU Faculty of Journalism Naghash Martirosyan, Deputy Dean Anahit Menemshyan and Head of YSU International Cooperation Office Alexander Markarov were present at the meeting.
Aram Simonyan first spoke about the educational process of the university, the main research areas, as well as international cooperation with foreign educational centers and universities.
“For 30 years YSU has been cooperating with French universities and the results are undoubtedly satisfactory. I am glad that you initiated the visit to Armenia and specifically to YSU. I am sure that the cooperation with the Faculty of Journalism will not only remain at the acquaintance level, but will be further expanded, including educational programs, exchange of lecturers and students,” - Aram Simonyan mentioned.
The guest from France expressed gratitude for the warm reception and noted that the visit was organized within the framework of the "Short-term Editing in Armenia” training program.
“It has been nine years since we visit different countries and make new discoveries. Last year we were in Ukraine, and this year the visit to Armenia was planned and initiated by the students themselves. The reason is the 17th summit of the Francophonie International Organization to be held in Armenia in the near future,” - the professor said.
Naghash Martirosyan added that the faculty is ready to work closely with French colleagues: “The media field in Armenia needs serious changes, changes that are directly related to the activities of our faculty, the development of educational programs and the education mechanisms in general.”
After the discussions, the parties reached an agreement to take steps to strengthen and develop ties between faculties.
Let us add that 5 professors from Sorbonne University and 29 students of the Faculty of Journalism, who visited Armenia and YSU within the framework of the training program, assure that they leave with great impressions and expectations to return again.
