The meeting took place in an informal atmosphere, mostly in question and answer format, during which students participating in the camping had the opportunity to ask minister high-ranking officials about military-political and defense spheres, as well as make a number of proposals in the field of military issues.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan also attended the meeting.
Director of YSU Student Affairs Center Vahagn Varagyan presented the activities carried out during the camping, in particular, fire, tactical, physical training, thematic lectures, pilgrimages to the sacred places of Artsakh.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan in his introductory speech touched upon the various programs implemented by YSU within the framework of the nation-army concept and emphasized the necessity of their continuation: “Every time in Artsakh students participate in the events organized within the framework of this program, they return to the university and become the bearer of the idea of becoming a soldier of the homeland.”
RA Defense Minister Vigen Sargsyan highlighted the holding of similar projects and assured that the RA Ministry of Defense will support this initiative to become more and more comprehensive. The minister also appreciated the participation of students who have experience of military service and distinguished with their brilliant service: “I am very glad that YSU is implementing such a project. It is inspirational when the student who is going to join the army clearly understands what challenges he will face.”
Vigen Sargsyan answered students’ questions, which were related to officer education, the right to defer, “I am”, “I have the Honor” programs, military diplomacy challenges, active involvement of persons with academic degrees in the defense of the country, international terrorism and regional challenges.
Let us note that the participants of the event are in Artsakh for the sixth day. Various events, such as military-scientific, fire, tactical practical exercises, thematic lectures, meetings, game-competitions have been implemented.
