FRANKFURT INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR KICKED OFF
The books published by YSU were presented in Germany.

The world’s largest book event, held in Frankfurt am Main, is being held this year on October 11-15.

More than 7300 participants from over 100 countries, more than 275 thousand visitors, more than ten thousand journalists make up the largest international publishing fair in the world.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron attended the opening ceremony of the international fair this year. Let us inform that this year France is the honorary guest of the fair.

The book fair aims to present to the world the publishing products of participating countries. At the exhibition, Armenian publishers sell the rights of modern Armenian writers to publish in foreign languages, and obtain permits to publish books by foreign writers in Armenian.

This year, Armenia’s participation in the largest and most prestigious book fair in Frankfurt is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the first Armenian Republic and the 2800th anniversary of Erebuni-Yerevan.

Their publications in the Armenian pavilion, besides YSU publishing house, also had “Antares” and “Zangak” publishing houses.

YSU Publishing House Director Karen Grigoryan said in a conversation with us that this year the Armenian pavilion had been pleasantly changed: “Finally, we have a more tasteful and professional booth for which I would like to thank the RA Ministry of Culture.”

Karen Grigoryan also mentioned that on October 12, YSU Publishing House participated in the meeting of the European Association of University Publishers, during which the annual estimate of the Association’s revenues and expenditures, the new staff of the Association was approved, and the new President was elected for the next three years.

The director of YSU Publishing House also stated that an incident was registered during the fair: “On October 12, two Azerbaijani men entered the Armenian pavilion at the book fair in Frankfurt, took several maps of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh from the bookshelf with exclamations on political topics on Artsakh. The security of the exhibition and police, as well as Tobias Voss, deputy director of the exhibition, were invited to the pavilion. The police have recorded all this and promised to take actions.”

It should be noted that the international book fair continued until October 15.
