FUTURE SPECIALISTS IN CRIMINAL LAW COMPETE
YSU Faculty of Law and the International Foundation for Legal Cooperation (IRZ) hold a moot court competition for Armenian and Artsakh higher educational institutions.

A unique regional moot court competition on criminal law and criminal proceeding is being held since 2016-2017 academic year.

 

As in previous year, this year the contest is held in 2 stages. Written - in which students report their arguments on the issue from the point of view of the accusation and defense parties, and then oral - during which representatives of 6 teams, who have collected the highest number of points in the previous stage, compete with each other.

 

In the semi-final, each team plays twice as a defender in one game and the other as a prosecutor. The two teams that have the most points in the semi-final compete with each other to win the Cup.

 

This year eight Armenian universities and two teams from Artsakh State University had applied for the competition. The following teams successfully overcame the written stage:

 

Yerevan State University 1,
Yerevan State University 2,
Modus Vivendi, Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University,
Artsakh State University,
"Geghama", Gavar University,
"Lex Dominus", French University of Armenia

 

The oral stage of the competition will be held on September 22 and 23. The semi-final will take place on September 22 and the jury, which will include representatives of the RA Court of Cassation, General Prosecutor's Office, Chamber of Advocates of Armenia and the Chamber of Advocates of Germany, will announce the best.

 

As in previous year's competition, this year also the teams will receive certificates and awards, which are defined both by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ), YSU, RA Human Rights Defender, RA Chamber of Advocates, RA Union of Judges, RA Bar Association, RA Prosecutor General's Office.
