HIGH RESULTS OF YSU TEAM AT THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIAD
On December 2-3, YSU teams participated in the semi-final stage of the ACM-ICPC Programming Northeast European Regional Olympiad in Tbilisi.

North-Eastern European Regional Contest of the annual competition held in the United States this year took place on December 2-3 and was held simultaneously in Saint Petersburg, Barnaul, Alma Ata and Tbilisi, where participants of the final stage of the region were determined.

YSU teams competed with other teams representing universities in Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine, where “YSU 1” team scored high points, but unfortunately failed to win the final round.

Vahram Dumanyan, YSU Informatics and Applied Mathematics Faculty Dean and the Coordinator of the competition in Armenian, stated that the team deserves a great appreciation: “The team is still young and is participating in the competition for the first time. I have to say that there were not enough points to win the final, but hopefully next time we will achieve the desired result.”

Vahram Dumanyan also added that “YSU 1” team this year became the champion of Armenia.

In addition to the team competition, the South Caucasus Individual Open Championship was held in Tbilisi with 74 students, including YSU representatives.

As a result of the individual struggle, 1st and 2nd place respectively were taken by the 1st and 2nd year students of YSU Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics Albert Sahakyan and Hrayr Harutyunyan.

Vahram Dumanyan also told us that similar contests also provide sponsorship: “As in all past years, this year YSU has also taken care of all the expenses, which is very important for this process. It is pleasant to note that the “Armenian Projects” company has also offered to support us for the second time, for which I want to express my gratitude. It is important for us to participate in this case.”

Vahram Dumanyan also confirmed that YSU will continue to participate in the prestigious competition.
