IN MEMORY OF VARDAN HOVHANNISYAN
An event, dedicated to student soldier-liberator Vardan Hovhannisyan, was held at YSU Faculty of Economics and Management.

Vardan Hovhannisyan, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Management, member of the “Eagle” detachment, was killed 25 years ago when he was liberating Vaghuhas Height on September 11.


Dean of YSU Faculty of Economics and Management Hayk Sargsyan, Dean of the Faculty of History Edik Minasyan, Major-General Arkady Ter-Tadevosyan attended the event, organized at the initiative of YSU Military-patriotic Education Club “Vardanank”. Colonel Felix Poghosyan, Chairman of Vardanank Club Satenik Abrahamyan, Club Vice President Ruzanna Krpeyan and others were also present.


Vardan Hovhannisyan’s family members, friends, colleagues, lecturers, students who were commemorating the memory of the heroic and immortal brave man gathered here today. During the event, Vardan Hovhannisyan’s biographical facts, episodes from student life, as well as stories from the combat path were presented.


“Vardan was different from his peers. He was quite mature. He suddenly came and asked for permission to take the exams sooner. Later, it became clear that he had heard of Vazgen Sargsyan’s call on the creation of the detachment and wanted to join them,” - says Arzuman Hakobyan, lecturer at YSU Faculty of Economics and Management.


During the day, people shared their memories of those who personally knew Vardan Hovhannisyan. The artistic part of the event was accompanied by recitation, patriotic songs, photos and videos.


It should be noted that during the event the 22nd issue of “Vardanank” periodical was also presented, which is also dedicated to Vardan Hovhannisyan.
