INTELLECTUAL COMPETITION ON THE DAY OF THE BOOK
The intellectual competition “Book Battle” aims to promote the love of reading and to encourage the best students.

The event organized today by YSU Student Scientific Society was attended by 22 students, representing the faculties of Geography and Geology, Journalism, Informatics and Applied Mathematics, Armenian Philology, International Relations, History, Philosophy and Psychology, Physics and Russian Philology.

“Frankly speaking, I expected more active participation of students, as similar events have gradually becoming more popular among young people. And although the competition was also open to other universities, all participants were from YSU,” - said YSU SSS Chairman Mher Hakobyan.

The competition was conducted in three phases, during which the participants gave answers to about 15 questions.

“It was a wonderful event. I think it allowed us to check our knowledge,” - said 4th year student at the Faculty of Romance and Germanic Philology Nonna Babayan.

Kristine Ohanyan (RGP Faculty, 3rd year), Ruzanna Mnatsakanyan (RGP Faculty, 2nd year), Nonna Babayan (RGP Faculty, 4th year), Anahit Gharibyan (Faculty of International Relations, 1st year) and Venera Stepanyan (RGP Faculty, 3rd year) won in the competition and were awarded with diplomas and foreign, classical Armenian and Russian literature.

In addition, the list of questions included books, which were initially selected by the participants (for example M. Bulgakov’s “Master and Margarita”, O. Wilde’s “Picture of Dorian Gray” and D. Salinger’s “The Catcher in the Rye”.

The book donation ceremony was also organized, during which all the participants, regardless their shown results, donated books to each other.
