THE BOLOGNA PROCESS ISSUES ARE SOLVABLE
THE BOLOGNA PROCESS ISSUES ARE SOLVABLE
The issues in the filed of education share much in common in almost all European countries.

RA Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan and Rectors Council Chairman Aram Simonyan presented the journalists the details of their visit to Budapest and Vienna in the framework of heading A decade of the Bologna Process: Achievements and Issues.

We should mention it was the first time when students were also included in the Armenian Delegation.

Mr. Ashotyan states that almost all his European colleagues express same concerns regarding the Bologna Process.

Among the issues, which share 47 countries that have joined the Process, we should note the following ones: lack of awareness among the students, difficult adaptation process for the professorial staff, absence of legislative bases and legal field nonconformance.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan mentioned that only joint efforts can help us to solve these issues. He added that such meetings and discussions provide us with the opportunity to find ways for the solutions of the issues in the areas of education and science.

YSU Rector states our main task is to preserve our values, which are acceptable by our society, as well as interlace them with the European values.
Mr. Simonyan mentioned that still in 1989, YSU former Rector Victor Hambardzoumyan together with 20 rectors had signed the Bologna Process Preliminary Document and in 1995-1996 the three degree education system was launched experimentally at YSU faculties of Sociology and Economics.

Our delegation has also had meetings with the ministers of education, representing a number of countries, in particular with the representatives of Scandinavian region and made arrangements on signing interstate agreements.

The Bologna Process co-chairmen beginning with July 1 2011 up to the end of the year will be Armenia and Poland, as the rotational system has been chosen.

Armen Ashotyan said he has made an arrangement with his Polish colleague to make a working group to provide the future cooperation in this framework with maximum of the effectiveness.

According to the Minister it is an excellent opportunity to call to life initiatives in the European Higher Education Area. Two all-European scientific conferences are expected to be organized, too.

The next assembly will be held in 2012 in Bucharest, but there is a lot to do in this field before this meeting. And the authorities state it is a great responsibility.
