FACULTY OF JOURNALISM IS 10 YEARS OLD
FACULTY OF JOURNALISM IS 10 YEARS OLD
October 30 was full of jubilees at YSU Faculty of Journalism.

2009 is the 10th anniversary of its foundation, 60th anniversary of Journalism Department foundation and 75th anniversary of birth of Founder-dean of the faculty Garnik Ananyan. So, let us describe the situation. Taking into consideration the fact that this faculty was managed by NAS RA Associate member, Professor Garnik Ananyan for about 8 years (beginning with October of 1999) our organizers had decided to combine all above mentioned celebrations.

YSU Rector Aram Simonyan awarded diplomas a number of outstanding representatives of this faculty, as well as representatives of Media, who cooperate with this faculty form the very day of its foundation. Mr. Simonyan congratulated everybody on this occasion and called future journalists to treat journalism as the Job of their Lives.

RA Journalists Union Vice-chairman, Writers Union President Levon Ananyan, current dean of the faculty Naghash Martirosyan and heads of chairs also congratulated the faculty. Five years ago we celebrated Garnik Ananyans 70th anniversary of birth here. He had many dreams... but the top of his dreams was the foundation of this faculty, - said N. Martirosyan.

Also the presentation of book The return to ourselves or seeking for identity, written by state order, was organized: this book was prepared by Garnik Ananyan still. When he was writing this book, his daughter Mina died. This death was a big loss for him and Mr. Ananyan dedicated this book to her memory before his death, - said the Director of Publishing house Hayastan Vahagn Sargsyan.

The final part of the meeting was very exciting. A video, made by G. Ananyans granddaughter and dedicated to Mina, was shown. As Mr. Rector said Ananyans spirit will always be present at this faculty.
