Very soon students will take lessons in their houses without attending classes.

Modern high technologies have developed so much, that it can become real in the nearest future. In the framework of European program Tempus a project is being realized in YSU library after Sargis and Mary Izmirlyans, in the result of which digital educational stock atmosphere will be invested in YSU library, along with courses.


On October 24 YSU rectorate and representatives of Armenian Tempus office awarded with certificates the participants of qualification training courses for tutors, which had been held in YSU library. YSU vice-rector Alexander Grigoryan mentioned that the collaboration between YSU and Tempus started two years ago. YSU library has won a grant program provided by European Union, which will provide with an opportunity to launch a digital library and to develop skills to become a proficient user. He added that YSU authorities have got an idea to found a system of distance education, taking info consideration the presence of YSU Ijevan Branch and Diaspora.

Distance education is very important for YSU especially within the limits of Bologna Process Integration, - said the executive person of this program Tigran Zargaryan. 27 lecturers from 10-12 faculties of YSU took part in this training courses. These courses are continued and will finish in August 2007.

According to Alexander Grigoryan all the participants are young and perspective persons. The lecturers will get both skills of how to become a user of this system and to prepare their own courses.

Lana Karlova, representative of Armenian Tempus office, informed us that such kind of a program was organized for the first time. I hope this will serve as a positive example and projects of this kind will also be organized in other Higher Educational Institutions. Library is a complicated institution and the transition to digital system will be of great support for it.

Taking into consideration the event - The day of the Librarian YSU authorities awarded with diplomas the library staff. It is of great importance, when one sees and evaluates Your job, - said Ashot Alexanyan, the Director of YSU library. The people who had made a great contribution in this sphere were awarded with diplomas.

STATEMENT OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY  ADDRESSED TO INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS REGARDING THE SITUATION CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE BLOCKADE IMPOSED ON THE LACHIN CORRIDOR
Since the morning of December 12th, a group of Azerbaijani civilians disguised as environmentalists have imposed a blockade on the Goris-Stepanakert highway (the Lachin Corridor) which is currently the only route linking Nagorno-Karabakh to the outside world. On top of that, during bitterly cold winter Azerbaijan had shut off natural gas supplies leaving the civilians in the territory without heating for 75 hours.

A meeting with Armenian composer, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mansuryan took place at YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center, during which university rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan presented the maestro with YSU gold medal.
