An International Scientific Conference Ideas of Eurasianism and the Armenian-Kazakh relations from ancient times till our days was opened at YSU today. The opening of the conference was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Armenia Ayimdos Bozdzhigitov.
The cooperation between the two universities began about two years ago, and last year it was enshrined with a memorandum of cooperation which was signed by the rectors of Astana and Yerevan universities during the opening ceremony of the Center for Language, History and Culture of Kazakhstan at Yerevan State University. Despite the fact that Armenia and Kazakhstan are geographically incompatible, I am sure that in the field of science and education our cooperation is equitable. The fact that 5 Kazakh master students currently take their internship at YSU, also states about it, - noted in his speech YSU Rector Aram Simonyan. - I hope that soon our students will travel to Astana to continue their studies at the Eurasian National University.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Armenia Ayimdos Bozdzhigitov is sure that the presence of the Center for Language, History and Culture of Kazakhstan at YSU is not a diplomatic step, but is a vigorous desire of Kazakh students in Armenia. Rector of Yerevan State University officially handed over the ambassador the report on the centers activities in the period of one year.
Speaking about the Armenian-Kazakh Friendship Ayimdos Bozdzhigitov emphasized the role of Armenians in all periods of the history of Kazakhstan. Today in Kazakhstan, according to the official data, 25,000 Armenians live. But the presence in our country of the Armenians is not appreciably in quantity and in quality. The names of Armenian figures in social, political and cultural life of Kazakhstan are widely known to the public. It is enough to mention only Levon Mirzoyan, who was the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Kazakh SSR from December 5, 1936 to May 3, 1938. He has made an invaluable contribution to the development of Kazakhstan. Kazakh people with love calls him Mirza-jan, and so far all remember him with gratitude, - said the ambassador.
In the framework of the days of the partner of YSU, Eurasian National University, the visit of the Rector was planned, too, but due to health problems he was unable to arrive. Bakitzhan Abdraim sent his colleague, Rector of YSU, souvenirs, which were handed over Aram Simonyan by Ziyabek Kabuldikov, Vice-rector of the Eurasian National University.
Souvenirs, symbolizing state and power, had been prepared by the director of the Centre for European Information Akbota Zholdasbekov, too. She is the granddaughter of a well-known Turkologist in Kazakhstan. YSU Rector promised that all gifts will be exposed at YSU History Museum and the Center of Language, History and Culture of Kazakhstan.
Conference participants watched a TV movie on the Armenian-Kazakh cultural ties, filmed by the Head of Chair of TV/Radio and Public Relations of ENU Gadilbek Shalakhmetov in 1960 in Yerevan. Co-founder of the popular TV channel Mir Gadilbek Shalakhmetov says that times he was a young journalist, and felt an incredible responsibility in the preparation of this little TV movie about the Armenian-Kazakh relations. After watching the film the author gave a sample of the film Alma Mater.
The international conference entitled Ideas of Eurasianism and the Armenian-Kazakh relations from ancient times till our days will be continued tomorrow, on April 21. In the coming days, the delegation will hold several meetings with the representatives of YSU professorial staff and will take part in cultural activities.
