On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of an outstanding scientist, Academician, holder of USSR state award, founder of a number of branches in the area of Biochemistry and the founder of the Cosmic Biology Norayr Sisakyan a scientific conference was organized at the Faculty of Biology of YSU.
YSU Rector, Professor Aram Simonyan focused on the importance of such meetings. Students get the opportunity to learn about the foreign, in this case Russian scientists, to get acquainted with their researchers. The experience exchange is also being provided. The scientific reports, which are being held here, will increase the level of knowledge of our students, - said Rector.
The Head of the International Scientific Center of Dubna Aleksey Sisakyan, Norayr Sisakyans son, well-known scientists from Dubna, Moscow and Italy were present at the conference.
Academician Norayr Sisakyan was born in 1907 in Ashtarak, in the family of village resident. Beginning with his student years he used to have a great interest towards science. His tutor and academic supervisor Academician Bach has said. I like to talk to Norayr. His purposefulness and the ability to make decisions quick really impress me.
Norayr Sisakyan has made researches in the area of general applied biochemistry of plants and technical Biochemistry. His role in the foundation and development of the Cosmic Biology is just invaluable.
The Academy for Scientific Researches of Russia has fixed commemorative medals after Norayr Sisakyan. Outstanding scientists from Russia and Armenia have been awarded with these medals. YSU tutors, professors Misak Davtyan and Emil Gevorgyan also were awarded with these commemorative medals.

Since the morning of December 12th, a group of Azerbaijani civilians disguised as environmentalists have imposed a blockade on the Goris-Stepanakert highway (the Lachin Corridor) which is currently the only route linking Nagorno-Karabakh to the outside world. On top of that, during bitterly cold winter Azerbaijan had shut off natural gas supplies leaving the civilians in the territory without heating for 75 hours.

A meeting with Armenian composer, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Mansuryan took place at YSU Charles Aznavour Culture Center, during which university rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan presented the maestro with YSU gold medal.
