During the first two weeks of the new academic year representatives of YSU Administration had meetings with freshmen of all faculties.
YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, Cultural Centre Director Karine Davtyan, as well as deans of the mentioned faculties attended the meetings.
Congratulating the freshmen on the occasion of the start of the academic year on behalf of the Administration, Ruben Markosyan mentioned that meetings have a cognitive nature and aim to inform students about a number of university processes and opportunities.
YSU Vice-rector spoke about the means of communication, as well as student e-mail, internet portal, newspaper, social networking, effective use of YSU pages, students' awareness of their rights and responsibilities.
He advised students to use YSU Library opportunities, as well as the online way of ordering books and informed that each student will be given an e-mail address through which he will be provided with the information about his educational process. He also urged first-year students to use any effort to demand everything from people and structures working with them and be consistent in solving various problems.
"The university environment is an environment of freedom, but it does not imply indifference. Be active in order to use fully all the provided opportunities. And remember, the effectiveness of your studies depends on both you and us because we are all equal participants in the educational process," - added Mr. Markosyan.
He advised students to actively work with educational advisors (curators), trying to solve problems via their mediation, explaining some terms related to the educational process, focused on the student structures and their activities, spoke about the Environmental Club, Elderly Council, as well as Military Readiness Club.
Director of the Cultural Centre Karine Davtyan congratulated the freshmen on becoming a YSU student, noting that the Cultural Centre has invited prominent professionals who will be able to implement cultural activities at the university on a professional level.
Mrs. Davtyan also spoke about the celebration of Tribute to YSU and Freshmen Oath Ceremony, which will take place on September 19, at 20:00, at the Main Building: "YSU Cultural Centre has been organizing and implementing this wonderful event for 11 years to celebrate the arrival of all first-year students at the university."
