YSU ADMINISTRATION HOLDS MEETINGS WITH FRESHMEN
YSU Administration has a new initiative for the new academic year. During the first two weeks of the academic year, they will hold meetings with the freshmen of all faculties.

The series of meetings started today and it will continue in the coming days as well.

 

YSU Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, Head of Educational-Methodological Department Hrant Zhamharyan, Director of Student Affairs Centre Vahagn Varagyan and Cultural Centre Director Karine Davtyan participate in the meetings. Deans and Deputy Deans also join this initiative at some faculties.

 

Congratulating the freshmen on the occasion of the start of the academic year on behalf of the Administration, Mr. Markosyan mentioned that the meetings have a cognitive nature and aim to inform students about a number of processes and opportunities at the university.

 

YSU Vice-rector spoke about the means of communication, student e-mail, internet portal, newspaper, social networking sites, effective use of YSU pages, students’ awareness of their rights and responsibilities.

 

“You are very fortunate, as you study at YSU, and during your years of study YSU will celebrate its most important jubilee, 100th anniversary of foundation.

We call on you to follow the university life and processes through YSU Portal and numerous documents, rules and guidelines, and not only to follow, but also actively participate in student life,” - added Mr. Markosyan.

 

Hrant Zhamharyan, in his turn, congratulated students, assuring that years later they would be proud to remember their student life.

 

Hrant Zhamharyan advised students to work actively with educational advisors (curators) to solve their issues, and then presented the structure of the academic year and semester, the peculiarities of the educational process.

 

Director of Student Affairs Centre Vahagn Varagyan presented student structures and their activities, highlighted the activities of the Student Council and the SSS, spoke about the newly established student structures, the Environmental Club, the Elderly Council, and the Military Readiness Club. Mr. Varagyan advised students to be as informed as possible so that their educational process was smooth and easy.

 

Director of the Cultural Centre Karine Davtyan congratulated first-year students on becoming YSU students and noted that the Cultural Centre has invited prominent professionals who will ensure the professional implementation of the student cultural programs at the university.

 

Mrs. Davtyan also spoke about the freshmen oath ceremony to be held in front of the central building on September 19, at 20:00.

 

At the end of the meeting the representatives of the Administration answered students’ questions.
