18 out of 20 members of the Faculty Council participated in the session. The only candidate nominated for the position of the Dean nominated by two chairs of the faculty was Naghash Martirosyan, who was unanimously re-elected the dean of the faculty.
Naghash Martirosyan, presenting his program, said that the quality of education will continue to be the basis for all the activities at the faculty: “We will continuously implement structural and content adjustment of educational programs in accordance with the national qualifications framework and the current labor market requirements.”
“In order to provide up-to-date research and innovation, we will extend the involvement of faculty and students in research and contribute to the expansion of academic cooperation and internationalization of research. We will develop the system of public attraction and services, we will promote public relations and social responsibility,” - Naghash Martirosyan said.
In order to have high-quality human resources and infrastructure, the dean assures that the faculty will continue to develop the human resources management system and to improve the welfare of its employees.
“And, of course, we will continue the ongoing processes of internationalization at the institutional and program level in line with YSU Strategic Development Program,”- said the Dean of the Faculty of Journalism.
According to paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Dean Election Procedure of YSU Faculty, the dean of the faculty may be elected a professor or associate professor who has a scientific degree of a doctor or candidate and at least 5 years of scientific and pedagogical work experience. Dean is elected at the faculty council by secret ballot for a five-year term.
In 1984-1991 Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor Naghash Martirosyan studied at YSU Faculty of Philology, Journalism Department. In 1994 he graduated from the post-graduate studies and worked as a lecturer at the Department of Journalism, then at the Faculty. From October 1999 he was appointed as Deputy Dean of YSU Faculty of Journalism, and since 2007 he has been the Dean of the Faculty.
In 2009 Naghash Martirosyan was awarded YSU Gold Medal in 2012 - the Armed Forces Medal of the RA Ministry of Defense.
