The presentation of book My Topic Encyclopedia which is published for the oral examination in English Language was organized in YSU on the 30th of November. This manual is foreseen not only for the entrants, but also for individuals and scholars at the non-specialized faculties together with pupils of schools of higher forms.
The co-authors of this book are Gayane Hovhannisyan, Marina Karapetyan, Amalya Babayan and Armine Ghalajyan from the Chair of the Second Department of English Language of the Faculty of Romance-Germanic Philology. During the presentation one of the authors Gayane Hovhannisyan said: The publication of this book is the result of the obtained experience of previous years. She also added that in the process of preparation for the edition their colleagues and students had made different proposals and corrections.
My Topic Encyclopedia is divided in 29 thematic paragraphs. Each of these paragraphs consists of key texts and appendixes which are of great value. The texts are given with their vocabularies, transcriptions and translations both in Armenian and Russian. This edition is unique for its bright colours and descriptive essence, also taking into consideration the fact that the chosen texts are both of serious and humorous types.
Gayane Hovhannisyan informed us that the CD version of this book is going to be released which will occupy all the material of this manual.
Sousanna Gasparyan, the Chief Specialist of the Department of Education of the Majors Office of Yerevan, who has shown a great support in the spreading out of the manual, said: Higher Educational Institution must be the continuation of the school. In this sense My Topic Encyclopedia may be called An Alternative Manual for School.
Alexander Markarov, Head of the Department on International Affairs, giving a high mark to this book, said: Now our children will learn that the books are not only dull and colourless, but also with bright colours and interesting, as this one is.
