YSU STUDENTS WON MEDALS AT THE INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD
The team representing Armenia at the International Student Math Olympiad returned from Bulgaria with two golden, two silver and two bronze medals.

Albert Gevorgyan, a student of YSU Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, was also a member of the Armenian team this year. Last year he won a gold medal and already registered a record in the Armenia's history of participation. This year he was the 15th.




YSU lecturer Karen Keryan holds the qualification round annually before the team goes to participate in the main event.


This year, YSU team members were Albert Gevorgyan, Vazgen Mikayelyan (Gold Medal), Avetik Karagulyan and Gevorg Mnatsakanyan (Silver medal).


It should be noted that the team representing Armenia participates in the International Student Mathematical Olympiad since 2005. Students of the American University of Armenia and Armenian-Russian Slavonic University now also participate in it. This year, teams from 75 well-known universities participated in the Olympiad. The first place was taken by the Israeli national team, the second was the Petersburg University team and the third was the Moscow Physics and Technology Institute.
