For the fourth year in a row, YSU Student Affairs Center with the support of the Student Council, L. Azgaldyan Military Readiness Club, Elderly Council and the Student Scientific Society organizes a tent camp in Artsakh aimed at raising students’ military-patriotic spirit and combat readiness.
“During the first two years the event has been held through interesting games and competitions. Last year, based on the events of April and the spirit of all of us, we decided to hold a military camping,” - said YSU Student Council Chairman Armen Khachikyan and added that successful experience has become another reason to call to life a pan-Armenian program.
According to Vahagn Varagyan, Director of YSU Center for Student Affairs, about 160 students from over 400 applicants have been selected, who will spend a week in the soldier’s daily life, will receive military knowledge, participate in fire training exercises and military training: “Apart from this, students will also be provided with intellectual entertainment through sports competitions and games. Visits to historical-cultural sites of Artsakh will be, too.”
Armen Khachikyan, speaking about the selection of the participants, said that people who are able to withstand the physical burden and ideologically understand what the terms “nation-army” or “Artsakh Question” means have been selected.
According to him, there will be detachments whose commanders are people with high moral qualities, and experience in the field of student management.
We should add that Diaspora representatives will also participate in the event of this year.
