DIALOGUE IN A CINEMA LANGUAGE
DIALOGUE IN A CINEMA LANGUAGE
"We do always speak about Turkey, and Turks about Armenia, but no dialogue is available. Shouldn't we start the dialogue in a cinema language?"

This opinion was expressed by the Director of the Caucasus Center of Peacekeeping Initiatives Georgy Vanyan, who presented to YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology students the movies by Turkish young film directors (7 pictures, 86 minutes duration), included in the Turkish Film Festival called 23,5 on the 17th of March.

Caucasus Center of Peacekeeping Initiatives in Armenia has presented these pictures to the pupils of senior classes in Yerevan, Noyemberyan and neighboring bordering villages, as well as RA HEI students by the support of Great Britains Embassy in Armenia, whose opinions will serve for the final decision during the voting for the only nomination of the festival Sympathy of the Audience.

We together with Student organization Dalga cooperate with students from Armenia, Karabakh, Georgia, Abkhazia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. Students play great role in our society, why not, they are our future. We have not chosen this faculty occasionally, as we want to make the voice of students-psychologists be heard not only in Armenia, but also in Turkey and Azerbaijan, - said Mr. Vanyan.

He added that after the closing of the festival a Turkish-Azerbaijani working group will arrive in Armenia, to illustrate the joint activities with Armenia in Turkey and Azerbaijan. By the way the Armenian side must prepare for the festival for Armenian movies, expected in the framework of the above mentioned festival in fall of 2009 in Istanbul Bosfor University.

The films of the festival Firewood, When the ice is broken, Empty heads, Capital Istanbul, Silence, Ajaba, Hrant/Firat speak about the everyday life in Turkey, social role of Turks in their country.

The latest one Hrant/Firat was shot by a young film director Ali Betil, which tells us about Hrant Dink and starts with his citation.

The best article contest is announced in the framework of this festival. The following topics are available: Hrant Dink as mirror of the fourth way, About what are we silent? The deadline for the articles submission is the 15th of April. You can send them to ombudsman@southcaucasus.com
