This task was given to the students of the Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology of Yerevan State University. Professor Arthur Horn from Georgia University, USA held a lecture headed Group Therapy and Problems and Peculiarities of Group Consulting on the 12th of April.
In the framework of project for Academic scholarships provided by the project for higher education support by the Open Society Institute by the initiative of the Chair of Applied Psychology seminar-discussions are launched. It was on the issues of therapy and group consulting.
This is Mr. Horns second visit to YSU. During the previous seminars topics on family therapy, theories and models of psychological interference in case of family conflicts were discussed. This one was the logical and thematic continuation for previous seminars.
Seda Arshakyan, a student from the Magistracy of the above mentioned faculty was not very inspired by this seminar: First time we participated with more pleasure: the expectations had been greater. But in the end it became obvious, that according to the foreign tutors we had a lack of theory. But the fact is that we want to concentrate on the practice and to get practical knowledge from the invited tutors.
Arthur Horn had presented a research on credit system for the staff and tutors of the chairs of applied psychology and theory and history of psychology. This was continued by active discussions in the areas of estimation of educational programs, required and facultative subjects combining, the amount of work of tutors, teaching and research combine importance and other issues.
Mr. Horn presented YSU Faculty of Philosophy and Psychology with some videotapes and manuals.
