AGAINST WATER DISASTERS
Today NATO ADVANCED RESEARCH WORKSHOP started at the hotel "Hrazdan".

The conference Natural disasters and water security: risk evaluation, emergency response and environmental management with the participation of more than 60 scientists from 23 countries was organized by YSU, International Geographical Union Commission for Water Sustainability, International Scientific-Research Centre on Water, Climatic and Recreational Resources NGO, NATO direct support and participation. 

The issue is really urgent. Let us remember about the floods in the world in summer. The scientists, gathered here, have a goal using the experience of their countries, jointly to discuss and offer ways for the solution of the problems in this sphere,-said Co-chairman of the conference, Professor from Wales University, head of International Geographical Union Commission for Water Sustainability Anthony Johns. 

The international seminar is significant from the angle of science, policy and economics both for Armenia and other countries of the region. It has a goal to use the experience of the outstanding scientists in this area and the representatives of this sphere from different countries to establish owing to their efforts methods for Armenia and the region to forecast the water disasters, water security, risk evaluation, emergency response and surrounding management. 

Co-chairman of the conference, YSU associate professor, head of NGO International Scientific-Research Centre on Water, Climatic and Recreational Resources, member of the executive committee of International Geographical Union Commission for Water Sustainability Trahel Vardanyan mentioned that the suggested effective methods will be localized and this will let if not to stop, but to reduce the quantity of water disasters and their negative impacts in the region. 

We are sure that the expected results will be effective, as the best scientists of the sphere have gathered here,-said Tahrel Vardanyan. 

The conference will be closed on the 22nd of October. The participants will visit downpour and landslip regions of Armenia and explore the place.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH PROJECT IN COOPERATION BETWEEN RESEARCHERS OF YSU AND UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA
The research project was launched in October, 2020 and funded by Science Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The project is implemented by Yerevan State University in cooperation with Dr. Mara Tignino who is a reader and a lead legal specialist at the Faculty of Law and Institute for Environmental Sciences of the University of Geneva.
DIRECTOR OF YSU FACULTY OF LAW SCIENTIFIC-EDUCATIONAL CENTER ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW HOSTED A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UN ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE
Olimpia Geghamyan, Director of the Scientific-Educational Center for Environmental Law at YSU Faculty of Law, hosted Marianna Bolshakova, a representative of the UN European Economic Commission's international team of experts, and discussed with her the problems of ecological education and upbringing in Armenia.
