WELCOME TO YSU!
The School Olympiad, dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Yerevan State University foundation, was closed today.

The Olympiad, initiated by YSU Pre-university Education Center and held on 28th of February on 11 general subjects, was attended by 583 pupils of senior class of 90 centers of education in Armenia. 14 pupils were awarded prizes for the 1st place, 25 - for the second, 50 - for the 3rd. Another 78 participants received certificates.

The success of our smart pupils is the result of three elements: pupil-parent-teacher. This Olympiad will provide with an opportunity to establish dialogue between Alma Mater and School,- said in his welcoming speech Rector of Yerevan State University Aram Simonyan.

Prize for 1st place in Mathematics was awarded to David Seyranyan, Physics - Vahe Galstyan (both are scholars of the Yerevan Gymnasium Quant), Chemistry - Gor Grigoryan (school N 138, Yerevan), Geography - Jennie Sahakyan (Yerevan Gymnasium Quantum), History of Armenian People - Mayranush Ghazaryan (School N 10, Yerevan), Human Rights and Democracy - Henrik Grigoryan (Armenia Gyumri Gymnasium Photon), Russian Language - Mariam Khachatryan (School N 8, Yerevan) , Armenian Language and Literature - Astghik Hayrapetyan (Gyumri Gymnasium Photon).

Prizes for 1st place in Biology was awarded to 3 pupils: Henrik Margaryan (School N 20 Gyumri), Naira Mkrtchyan (Gyumri Gymnasium Photon), Anahit Grigoryan (Yerevan Gymnasium Quant), and English language - Astghik Ghazaryan (school N 194, Yerevan) and Astghik Melik-Karamyan (Mkhitar Sebastatsi Educational Complex, Yerevan).

Henrik Grigoryan, awarded prize for 1st place on Human Rights and Democracy, said that there were no difficult issues: one just had to show logical approach to tasks. I am pleased and proud of myself. Gymnasium Photon is very pleased, too. Many of our scholars won prizes, a symbol of high quality, as well as the question of honor,- said the Gyumri prize holder.

11th year scholar from Yerevan school N 8 Serine Misisyan has already entered the Faculty of Russian Philology of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University. After the victory in the Olympiad, held in summer 2008 in Moscow, she was provided with an opportunity to study free of charge in this university. In Yerevan State University Olympiad Serine received a prize for 2nd place.

Different gifts were distributed among the winners: books, diplomas for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, certificates.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan assured that the Olympiad will become traditional and will be conducted annually. We will do everything for a certain part of students to learn everything about our university, be aware of its everyday life and specializations. Our doors are always open for you. Welcome to the University!

After the award-giving ceremony the scholars took part in a pre-announced day of the open doors, which had an aim to help them in career guidance. The students met with professorial staff and deans of the faculties.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH PROJECT IN COOPERATION BETWEEN RESEARCHERS OF YSU AND UNIVERSITY OF GENEVA
The research project was launched in October, 2020 and funded by Science Committee of the Republic of Armenia. The project is implemented by Yerevan State University in cooperation with Dr. Mara Tignino who is a reader and a lead legal specialist at the Faculty of Law and Institute for Environmental Sciences of the University of Geneva.
DIRECTOR OF YSU FACULTY OF LAW SCIENTIFIC-EDUCATIONAL CENTER ON ENVIRONMENTAL LAW HOSTED A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE UN ECONOMIC COMMISSION FOR EUROPE
Olimpia Geghamyan, Director of the Scientific-Educational Center for Environmental Law at YSU Faculty of Law, hosted Marianna Bolshakova, a representative of the UN European Economic Commission's international team of experts, and discussed with her the problems of ecological education and upbringing in Armenia.
