Alumni Employment Portal “HEN-GEAR” was created in the framework of the Tempus program “HEN-GEAR” (Higher Education Network for Human Capital Assessment and Graduate Employability in Armenia - a network of higher education aimed at the evaluation of human resources and the performance of graduates in Armenia). The program started in 2012, its duration is 3 years. The purpose of the program is to help solve the problems of employment of graduates, as well as contribute to the cooperation between education and business sectors.
Starting with 2014, all graduates of YSU can register on the network, and the university, in its turn, confirms the data entered by the graduate, after which the data becomes available on the portal. The system will allow employers to search for relevant graduates for different positions and, at the same time, graduates will be able to have free access to the labor market. We should note that the registration in the portal is coordinated by YSU Alumni and Career Centre.
International program helps universities of Armenia in developing an appropriate methodology, using a database built on the model of the Consortium of Italian Universities “Almalaurea”. Universities of Armenia joined the program, taking into consideration the importance of placing the concept of data, developed by the Consortium, and the similarity of the conditions for the start in Italy and Armenia.
It should be noted that the purpose of implementation of the system is the effectiveness of the quality of estimation at the basis of the reliability of the data of graduates, as stated in the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA), elimination of gaps in the statistics, to facilitate entry of graduates to the labor market at both national and international levels, strengthen the ties between the universities and companies both at national and international levels, to enhance the value of the national university system as a whole.
To register on the portal of employment of graduates “HEN-GEAR” it is necessary to make a number of actions: go to the official website of “HEN-GEAR” - http://www.hen-gear.net/, select the field “Join”, then the appropriate university, faculty, degree (first level – bachelor’s degree, second – master’s degree), etc. The appropriate data should be entered in the opened boxes, and answers to the questions should be given.
Employers also should register to make searches. Conditions of registration process are established by the universities. Employers, choosing the field “Register”, should provide with the relevant information (name, sphere, address, etc.). Having registered, employers can make searches in the system and post job offers.
