During the Study Tour we have visited the EU partner institutions - KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Bath Spa University, University of Girona and Heidelberg University, where our partners have presented the entire process of PhD education from admissions to defense. The example of KTH institute, in particular, proved that there is a direct relationship between the industry and the institute, which is very important as by the 6th point of Salzburg principles concerning the 3rd cycle of Higher Education it is necessary to achieve the critical mass. Unfortunately, this crucial point is almost missing from our system and obtaining qualitative and demanded doctoral education further requires the establishment of such a link.
From the learnt lessons, in YSU will embed the part that is not in conflict with YSU educational system. In particular, the descriptions of տհե educational programs will be improved, the PhD student-supervisor relations will be refined by the agreement. Moreover, educational and research programs will be redesigned to meet the needs of the labor market.
The questions concerning the whole process were discussed in corresponding departments of YSU and among project participants. Taking into account the direction of YSU pilot PhD program, it is was decided to consider the experience of Heidelberg University while developing YSU educational programs.
