YSU ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR SVETLANA VARDANYAN WAS AWARDED YSU GOLD MEDAL
YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan awarded Associate Professor of the Department of English Philology at the Faculty of European Languages and Communication Svetlana Vardanyan YSU Gold Medal on the occasion of her long-term effective university activity and 77th anniversary of birthday.

Hovhannisyan praised Vardanyan's years of work, academic activity and dedication, stating that she has always treated her work responsibly and with love. According to him, thanks to specialists like Vardanyan, the university becomes prestigious and continues its development.

 

Dean of YSU Faculty of European Languages and Communication Gevorg Barseghyan thanked Hovhannisyan for appreciating the contribution of the talented lecturer.

He considered it remarkable that Vardanyan receives this award when her former student is already the dean of the faculty.

 

Vardanyan thanked the rector and presented him with his monograph and his English translation of Paruyr Sevak's poem "The Silent Bell Tower", which is the only translation in the world.

STATEMENT OF YEREVAN STATE UNIVERSITY  ADDRESSED TO INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS REGARDING THE SITUATION CREATED AS A RESULT OF THE BLOCKADE IMPOSED ON THE LACHIN CORRIDOR
Since the morning of December 12th, a group of Azerbaijani civilians disguised as environmentalists have imposed a blockade on the Goris-Stepanakert highway (the Lachin Corridor) which is currently the only route linking Nagorno-Karabakh to the outside world. On top of that, during bitterly cold winter Azerbaijan had shut off natural gas supplies leaving the civilians in the territory without heating for 75 hours.

YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, along with Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA Karen Trchunyan, hosted the delegation headed by Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. For his activity and significant contribution to increasing inter-university bonds, the rector handed a certificate of gratitude to Myasnikovich.
