Yuri Hovsepyan, the author of extraordinary and beautiful tapestries, is an engineer by profession. He lives in Moscow. His works differ not only with artistic, but also technical and unique solutions.
Director of YSU Cultural Centre Karine Davtyan, presenting the guest at the beginning of the event, mentioned that he is a very interesting and unique person.
As Yuri Hovsepyan said, it has been 35 years since he started to make tapestry: “I am proud to say that 20 years from 35 I have been teaching and transmitting my knowledge to the next generations.”
Besides tapestry, the folk master creates sketches, writes music that is born during the creation of the tapestries and corresponds to the image of that work.
The author uses wool, semi-impregnated, acrylic, anchor, cotton, as well as wooden beads and stones to create his works.
The event was also attended by artist Anush Yeghiazaryan, director of “Teryan” Cultural Centre Lilit Melikyan, RA Honored Art Artist Stepan Shakaryan, Yuri Hovsepyan’s friends and relatives, as well as students of YSU.
During the meeting, the author’s tapestry was shown, as well as his piano works were performed.
Yuri Hovsepyan also conducted a master class, showing how the works were created and said that one of his dreams, master class in his homeland, came true.
