On October 2-13, about 30 soldiers from the Defense Ministry of the Republic of Armenia and the Defense Army of Artsakh participated in the training of officers-psychologists at YSU.
YSU Department of Postgraduate Additional Education courses are conducted by YSU lecturers and invited lecturers from the Heratsi State Medical University, Abovyan State Pedagogical University, Linguistic and Social Sciences University after Brusov.
According to Zhasmen Aghasyan, Head of the Postgraduate Additional Education Department, since military psychology is a new direction, the first precondition for its development is the recruiting of human resources, including the faculty's involvement. The next is the availability of relevant literature.
"For the first time YSU students were the initiators. Being in Artsakh and seeing that there are young militaries who need psychological protection, they asked to offer specialists who will meet with the soldiers," - said Zhasmen Aghasyan and added that regular visits and similar trainings are being conducted, as training of officer psychologists is a completely new reality and a serious contribution to the professional development of the Armed Forces personnel.
The topics of the lectures relate not only to the problems of military psychology, but also to the peculiarities of the military personnel. Lieutenant Colonel Henrik Sahakyan, deputy commander of the military unit, noted that besides the courses held at the university, representatives of YSU professorial staff also hold seminars and lectures in military units.
YSU Department of Postgraduate Additional Education has been cooperating with the Ministry of Defense since 2010. During this period more than 1,000 civilian and military personnel have been trained.
