GOURGEN MELIKYAN IS 70 YEARS OLD
"Today, only the people who give a lot, but get a little can be called inttellectualls and are satisfied with this. The one who devotes himself to his mission, is a lucky person", - says the one who devoted 50 years of his life to YSU.

The 70th anniversary of the Dean of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, social-political figure and an intellectual person Gourgen Melikyan was celebrated on the 18th of December in the Hall after Charents in YSU.

He was congratulated by the representatives of academic and scientific sphere and the officials. The official congratulations from the staff of the President of the RA, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the RA and the President of NKR were announced. Born in Iran, the specialist on Persian studies Gourgen Melikyan was congratulated by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on this occasion.

Minister of Defence of the RA, President of YSU Council Serge Sargsyan was among the guests. Serge Sargsyan gave a medal from Prime-minister to Mr. Melikyan as he has a big contribution in the process of foundation of the Armenian Army and during the Artsakh war. Then Serge Sargsyan awarded him with the commemorative medal after Garegin Njdeh.

Gourgen Melikyan was also congratulated by Pargev Srbazan, the Head of the Artsakh Diocese. When we say Gourgen Melikyan, a man with a kind smile and nice face with moustache comes in front of our sights and we also smile.

Gourgen Melikyan was the Chairman of the Artsakh Diocese for 15 years. Pargev Srbazan informed us that the Artsakh Diocese Council has decided to award Gourgen Melikyan with the title of Honourable Chairman of the Diocese.

Death has passed nearby for numerous times, but never struck me. May be I have still got a lot to do in this life, - says Gourgen Melikyan, who is 70 years old but has the energy of life of the young.

YSU RECTOR MET THE CHAIRMAN OF THE EURASIAN ECONOMIC COMMISSION COUNCIL DELEGATION HEADED BY M. V. MYASNIKOVICH
YSU rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, along with Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of RA Karen Trchunyan, hosted the delegation headed by Mikhail Myasnikovich, Chairman of the Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission. THE THREAT OF DESTRUCTION OF ARMENIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH
From 15 to 19 July 2022, a conference on "The Cultural Heritage of Artsakh" was held at the Yerevan State University and the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Vayots Dzor/Armenia. More than 30 international scholars and experts discussed the origin, historical development and current threats to cultural heritage in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). These are part of the Armenian culture and, thus, amongst the oldest heritage of Christianity.
