“VARDANANK” REMEMBERS UNIVERSITY HEROES
“VARDANANK” REMEMBERS UNIVERSITY HEROES
On February 14, YSU delegation visited Proshyan village Secondary School after Petros Ghevondyan.

This visit has become traditional long ago. Participant of Artsakh Liberation War soldier-liberator Petros Ghevondyan (Peto) has studied at YSU Faculty of Radiophysics. He hit a mine when he rescued his wounded comrade.

Chairman of the Military-patriotic Education Club “Vardanank” Satenik Abrahamyan said: “Our students know for sure that all related to Peto and his brothers in arms will never be forgotten. We welcome all our students, who are faithful to patriotic ideas.”

Before proceeding to the meeting, members of club, teachers and pupils paid a visit of tribute to the Corner of Peto at this school. They spoke about many other heroes of the Artsakh War, who left the university and joined their brothers in arms. The event was attended by Peto’s sister, elder brother and his son.

Vardanank members delivered a lecture for the schoolchildren, focusing on the history, faculties and specializations, available at YSU. We should note about the active participation of the children in this meeting and the fact they all realize at which school they study – the school named after such hero.

After the end of the meeting all the participants visited the memorial complex of Proshyan village. They laid flowers on the graves of Peto and other fallen soldiers.

In the end of the event “Vardanank” members visited the home of Peto, where his relatives live now. Peto’s elder brother told some interesting facts about the hero.
