Not only the students of Yerevan State University Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, but their colleagues from other faculties and universities participated in the annual competition. The Olympiad was held on the 18th of April.
Tasks, which were compiled by the professorial staff of the faculty, were 7. For the solution of each problem the students had been allocated 10 points. The winner was recognized a 4th year student of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of Yerevan State University Armen Nurbekyan, whose record was 40 points out of possible 70 in the Olympiad, which lasted for 4 hours.
He and two students were awarded diplomas of the first category, 4 students - the second category, 3 students - third category. 5 students were awarded challenge certificates. YSU SSS had prepared gifts for students-winners: books and photo frames.
Thus, the degree of the 1st category was handed over to Armen Nurbekyan and Hayk Alexanyan (1st year master at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics), diplomas of 2nd category - Arman Margaryan (Faculty of Physics, 3rd year), Vardan Voskanyan (1st year master at the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics), Anush Martirosyan (Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics 4th year), and David Gharagulyan (Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics, 3rd year), diplomas of 3rd category were handed over to Emma Hovhannisyan (Faculty of Mathematics, SEUA, 3rd year student) and Nerses Khachatryan (Faculty of Informatics and Applied Mathematics, 3rd year).
As the SSS Chairman of the Faculty Karen Keryan said, the students who showed the best results during the Olympiad, will form a team, which will represent YSU at the coming student competitions in mathematics in Iran and Hungary.
Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics Arthur Sahakyan congratulated the students and said: I want to express my appreciation for the fact that the Olympiad was actively attended by students from other faculties and we saw excellent results. I hope in future our students will show better results.
