YSU Administration and Cultural Centre were the organizers of the event with the support of the Student Council and the Youth Foundation of Armenia.
YSU Rector, vice-rectors, deans of various faculties, lecturers and members of student organizations, students and many others were present at this beautiful ceremony.
YSU Rector Aram Simonyan in his welcoming remarks congratulated the freshmen and urged them to remain faithful to their oath.
“It is an honor to become a student of Yerevan State University, to walk under the arches of this building, and I congratulate you on this occasion. Yerevan State University will create all conditions so that you can get education and become worthy citizens of the Republic of Armenia and worthy Armenians. I wish you good luck, dear freshmen.”
This year the first-year students of the faculties of History and International Relations Arkady Lazaryan Freshman Agnesa Shapaghatyan held the ceremony.
The text of oath was read and the students swore to love and respect their education institution.
This year marks the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide. Time has nothing to do here, the pain and sorrow of the Armenian people can never be forgotten and this generation condemns and demands! The establishment of the university brought new breath and motion in the life of the Armenian people who faced such a tragedy.
People enjoyed the performances by the Cultural Center chorus, dance studio, theater-studio, newly formed ensemble of folk instruments, folk dance ensemble of the Student Council and invited guests. The graduate of the Faculty of International Relations Mary Grigoryan and 2nd year student of the same faculty Eduard Hovhannisyan held this part of the ceremony.
At the end of event participants of the event expressed gratitude all the organizers and supporters of the ceremony - YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, student organizations and a number of university departments, Director of the Cultural Centre Karine Davtyan, the RA Honored Artist, clothing designer Anna Harutyunyan and Youth Foundation of Armenia.
