SMALL PICTURES ABOUT BIG SCAVENGERY
SMALL PICTURES ABOUT BIG SCAVENGERY
"If when looking at photos people at least do not throw cigarette butts on the ground, then this all is not in vain", - said Arsen Gasparyan.

An original photographic exhibition was organized in the courtyard of the Central Building of Yerevan State University today. Environmental exhibition was organized by NGO Association of Young Biologists, with the support of YSU SSS. Most of the pictures, more than 150, were on cleaning works undertaken by the Association in Hrazdan Gorge.

Members of the newly formed NGO Association of Young Biologists held cleaning works in Hrazdan Gorge on May 2. Majors Office of Yerevan and the Community Center provided the organization with necessary attributes for the cleaning works.

The scavenging, organized in Hrazdan Gorge, was organized primarily for the preservation of fauna and flora on this territory. When the work was accomplished there were put signs, calling not to pollute the area and reminding us about the kinds of animals and plants, present on the territory, whose existence is under threat, - said Chairman of Arsen Gasparyan.

Photographs, made by the NGO National Center for Bioethics and dedicated to the protection of the rights of animals, were exhibited, too. I am pleased that the main visitors of the exhibition are our youngsters, because, as a rule, youngsters pollute our city most of all. I think this exhibition will make people care more about our city, - said YSU student Movses Hecho.

Members of the association are currently seeking for a sponsor to set rubbish bins in Hrazdan Gorge: an oral agreement with the Mayors Office has not given any positive result, yet. Young biologists are sure: if the situation does not change, soon there will be a need for additional works in the gorge.
