YSU STUDENTS CELEBRATED VARDANANTS DAY IN ETCHMIADZIN
This year also, according to the tradition, the event, dedicated to the Vardanants Day, was held in the spiritual capital of Armenia.

This initiative has a history of eight years. YSU Cultural Centre and Gevorgyan Theological Seminary in Etchmiadzin organize this event, commemorating the Vardanants martyrs and praising their heroism. This time they were honored by the presence of His Holiness the Supreme Patriarch Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, YSU Rector Aram Simonyan, Vice-rector on Students, Alumni and Public Relations Ruben Markosyan, distinguished guests, students and soldiers.



The event started with Lord’s Prayer, followed by the national anthems of Armenia and Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.


YSU Rector Aram Simonyan congratulating in his welcoming speech those present noted: “University students, as well as their colleagues form many universities of our capital show great love and responsibility towards this day, which is symbolic for our nation. Such is the nature of the day, folk and symbolic.”




Students of the RA Academy of Public Administration for the first time participated in this event, organized by YSU and Gevorgyan Theological Seminary.


A speech was made by Doctor of History Albert Stepanyan. Patriotic songs were performed by YSU representatives and members of choir “Etchmiadzin” of Gevorgyan Theological Seminary. His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians concluded the event by his patriarchal blessing.


P.S. The great saints of the Armenian Apostolic Church, 1036 generals and warriors of Vardanats, gave their lives for the homeland, the Armenian Church and the Christian faith in Avarayr Battle. Memory Day of Holy Martyrs is celebrated on Thursday prior to the Great Lent.

THE THREAT OF DESTRUCTION OF ARMENIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH
From 15 to 19 July 2022, a conference on "The Cultural Heritage of Artsakh" was held at the Yerevan State University and the Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Vayots Dzor/Armenia. More than 30 international scholars and experts discussed the origin, historical development and current threats to cultural heritage in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh). These are part of the Armenian culture and, thus, amongst the oldest heritage of Christianity.
