There are two approaches in HEI system to this issue: in one case the stress is put on basic knowledge, in the other-only on practical skills. For The alumni, who possess the above mentioned practical skills, it is very to adapt in any area and as for the one who has got basic knowledge, it is a little bit difficult, though he/she is much more flexible.
But very often, the skillful and educated alumni faces many hardships, before he gets a position, as corruption stands on his/her way.
YSU Alumni and Career Center has already initiated a number of events, directed to the decision-making of YSU alumni in the labor market.
The Center has managed to enlarge the scale of its activities, including new spheres, establishing cooperation with various state and not only organizations. Different panel discussions, round tables are regularly organized by the center for the welfare of our studentship.
Among many achievements we should mention the implementation of projects in cooperation with HSBC Bank Armenia CJSC. Both bachelors and masters from different HEI are the target group of the project.
In June-August of 2009 10 students were trained in this bank (three from YSU). As a result two of our students got positions in the leading banks of Armenia. Analogues project for bachelors and masters was implemented by Beeline Mobile Operator. The project is called Second Generation.
The establishment of relations with the representatives of Internship is also among the achievements of the Center. This project provided our students and alumni with the opportunity to work in different organizations.
Such trainings, projects provide students with many opportunities, make their positive impact on the process of their decision-making. Students learn how to represent themselves in the way the employer wants to see. When we manage to provide at least one student or alumni with a vacancy somewhere, it is already an achievement, because we help him to avoid the bureaucracy and different not very pleasant communications, - said YSU Alumni and Career Center Deputy Director Karine Nazaryan.
And YSU Alumni and Career Center Director Armen Yesayants they always do their best to provide with the transparency the relationship between employer and employees. So, people start to trust more.
Today it is very important for us, especially in the area of studentship, to break the stereotype that acquaintances, mediation and corruption are decisive in any kinds of relations. For example, recently training was held by our Center in Tsaghkadzor, where RA Civil Service and UN Volunteer projects were focused on. Chairman of the Civil Service Council Manvel Badalyan stated that state system is not so transparent, very often we deal here with the corruption and skillful and industrious personalities are required in the civil service sphere, - says Armen Yesayants.
Currently the Center continues the cooperation with former colleagues, developing the scale of activities, which provides many students and alumni with the opportunity to make a right decision and to solve the employment issue.
