On the 4th of April in the Hall of Academic Council of YSU the guest of YSU was the US Charge dAffaires in Armenia Anthony Godfrey. He held a short lecture on the Armenian-American relations for the universitarians.

Armenia develops day by day and USA will do its best to support Armenia in this process, but You must not forget that your future depends just on You - Armenians, - said in the end of the lecture Anthony Godfrey.

After the speech the US Charge dAffaires in Armenia Anthony Godfrey answered to the questions of the audience. The focus was made on the issues connected with the including NKR as a negotiator party in the process of Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, Armenian-Turkish relations and a number of other topics.

One of the present people raised the question that in the annual report of the State Department of USA for 2006 there had been made the expression that Armenia continues the occupation of the 20% of the territory of Azerbaijan. In his answer Anthony Godfrey mentioned that Armenians really have reasons to be concerned about it. He hopes that this misunderstanding will be solved, but did not say for sure if it were possible for this part of the report to be changed.

The reopening of the church St. Cross is a progressive step itself in the framework of relations between Armenia and Turkey, but I expected more. This event was an excellent occasion, but it occurred to be in vain, - expressed his disappointment the US representative.

In one of his answers Anthony Godfrey requested the present people to be indulgent to him, as all his answers were diplomatic, mentioning the fact that the diplomacy is his profession.
