Academic delegation of Lithuania, present in Armenia on the initiative of the Armenian TEMPUS office and sponsoring by Education Exchanges Support Foundation of Lithuania, visited today YSU. 9 delegates, representing 7 different educational institutions of Lithuania, met with representatives of Armenian HEI.
Our guests were welcomed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Lithuania to Armenia Giedrius Apuokas. I think this meeting today, acquired new friends and the relations established will be very useful. I hope that these relations will grow into the joint participation in exchange programs, students and tutors in the field of education, - said Mr. Ambassador.
Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the RA Ara Avetisyan highlighted the role of such meetings, especially for developing countries such as Armenia is. He briefly introduced the guests at what stage of development of education today Armenia is, focused on the existing issues and achievements.
Head of the Armenian office of TEMPUS Lana Karlova noted that the main purpose of the meeting is to create conditions to ensure that the representatives of the two countries, who have never cooperated with TEMPUS, will be provided with an opportunity to get acquainted with each other, talk about common problems and programs, to find points contact. According to Lana Karlova, such meetings must create a possibility for further cooperation, both personal and academic.
Members of foreign delegation presented their universities via reports and those basic preferences, in the framework of which cooperation is possible with the Armenian colleagues.
Such meetings are very important, because they always create a basis for new cooperation. In this regard, both sides have much to give and receive. Well, in terms of quality of education the experience exchange and new technologies - a mandatory precondition, - said the Utena College Director Gintautas Buzinskas.
The presentations of delegates were followed by a discussion. Eventually the representatives of both universities were provided with an opportunity to meet personally.
