MEMBERSHIP IN ELIA
YSU Cultural Center Theater-Studio "Hamalsaranakan" became a full member of the European League of Institutes of the Arts (ELIA).

Theater-Studio Hamalsaranakan was founded in February 2005 and in October 2006 it participated in the International Festival Hayfest with two performances.
After participating in this festival the ELIA Chairman offered the Theater-Studio to become the League member.

This proposal occurred to be of great interest for both YSU authorities and Chairman of the Festival Hayfest Arthur Ghukasyan, as the theater-studio is the only amateur student group among the participants of the festival.

According to the Director of YSU Cultural Center Karine Davtyan, to be a member of such European structure is not so simple: About one and a half years a serious work was done and only in November 2008 our theater became a full member of ELIA.

Karine Davtyan added that visits by professionals of sides, different conferences, summer lessons, invitations as well as master classes are included in the framework of this cooperation. Finally, YSU will be recognized by foreign universities from the aspect of culture.

Director of the Center assured: Such cooperation is a very necessary one and at the same time we take some responsibilities: from now on we will have to work more for our performances to be on more professional level.

By the way, K. Davtyan also congratulated everybody on the occasion of New Year and Christmas, wishing them new achievements and success in the jubilee year.
