THE CHAIR IS 10 YEARS OLD
On the 16th of April in the Black building of YSU the 10th anniversary of foundation of the Chair of History and Theory of Armenian Art of UNESCO of the Faculty of History was celebrated.

The time showed that the decision was right: today we have got a stabile and specific chair, - mentioned in his welcome speech YSU Rector Aram Simonyan.

This chair was established in 1996-97 owing to the efforts of the Head of National Commission of UNESCO of Armenia Varduhy Asatryan, YSU former Rector Radik Martirosyan and YSU former Vice-rector Rafael Matevosyan.

There was a time, when the chair even had not at its disposal stable staff, but gradually the staff was formed and today they train specialists which will bring honor to each IHE and country, - said Head of the Chair of the History of Armenia of the Faculty of History of YSU, Doctor of History, Professor Babken Haroutyunyan.

Since the very beginning, the head of this chair is Doctor of Arts, Professor Levon Chuqaszyan. Now there are about 180 students, who study at the chair. As for the staff of tutors, there used to work and now, too, specialists who are the graduates of institutions of Armenia, Russia, France and Arabian countries.

The director of the Institute of Arts of NAS RA Doctor of Arts, Professor Ararat Aghasyan congratulated the chair on this occasion and presented library of the chair, which is in the process of establishment, with several manuals. The students also expressed their gratefulness and congratulations.

In the end the guests visited the exhibition of students works and enjoyed hospitality.

The events, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the chair will continue tomorrow. On the 17th of April a conference will be organized by the initiative of the students of the Chair of History and Theory of Armenian Art of UNESCO.
